London 2018
This post has been a long time coming, I actually went to London before Vietnam. It is a wonderful place where every corner is a place to take a photo and in my case, IG photos. London was an amazing time. It became pretty apparent that people work hard and play hard there also.
One of my favorite things about London was that I didn’t need to drive any where and got to use The Tube/The London-Underground. Since that is their main way to move about the city and their mass transit subway system, it was consistently packed. They also have an overground train system that goes further into England, where the subways doesn’t reach, pretty neat.
Experiencing cafe culture of London, landmarks, and McDonald’s (Yeah I know its fast food, but McDonalds’ in each country have specific and exclusive food available); were the goals. One of the days, I took a solo exploration trip to some coffee shops, found out that most places charge for decaf espresso (I wasn’t consuming much caffeine during that time). The Mickey D’s have curry dipping sauce for their nuggets and cheese tater-tots, Yum! When visiting Buckingham palace there was no air conditioning in the whole building, that or they didn’t want to turn it on for the common folk.
I loved that the people were so diverse and accepting, at least from my experience. It’s 4 in the afternoon on a Tuesday and the “pubs” were packed. Naturally we had to do as the locals do; we went to a pub and I started to speak in a pretty awful British accent, and ordered a cider, then a random person asked who I was waiting for, and asked my name. At this point I was already in and I couldn’t stop the accent. So there I was stuck with a local London-er, speaking in a bad British accent lol.
Another and very nerdy, cliché, landmark we went to was The Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studios; where the movies were filmed and the props of the actual film including the movie magic behind it all are on display. I even got to open the actual door the lead the actual great hall!! (Way smaller than in the movies, but the cameras make it look huge).
Till my next adventure!
